At last night's meeting we had a short discussion on our September and October assignments.
Our September assignment is 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'. The expectation is that these images should be of an old style diner, examples would be the one in Trenton near West and Jefferson, inside Henry Ford Museum or the one at the Gilmore in Kalamazoo. Drive-ins would include something like an A&W. Dives would be older eateries, perhaps not in the best condition. Obviously no images of an upscale restaurant. Inside and outside images would be acceptable.
All digital entries for September are due to me by end of the day Friday August 29th.
Our October assignment is 'A Day at the Beach'. The expectation is that these images must include water and shoreline, whether it be sand, rocks, pebbles, etc. Obviously, structures, people, animals or other items within these confines would be acceptable.
Upcoming field trips;
A suggestion was made to revisit the Merry-Go-Round Museum in Sandusky Ohio. We last visited the museum pre pandemic. I will check on availability and hours and report back at our next meeting.
Another suggestion was made to visit the Michigan Central Train Station. It was also mentioned the best time to visit is on a Sunday morning. More discussion to come.
Dave mentioned that Jeff Thomas has not set a date yet for the barrel racing/rodeo style horse photoshoot.
2026 monthly assignments:
Suggestions for calendar year 2026 monthly assignments can be sent to me by October 15th. I will then compile a list of suggestions for the club members to vote on by early November. I will not include any topics that we have done in the last 3 years or so.
