Hello Everyone, Just a few reminders for May. Due to the month of May starting on a Wednedsay you have an extra week to submit your digital entries for the competition. The deadline is midnight of Wednesday May 1st. May Assignment = Morning
Also, our workshop meeting on May 21st will be lessons on working in the new Creative Camera Club of Southgate's web site. If you plan on having a portfolio page or posting on the blog page you need to attend the workshop meeting in order to get a password to get into the site. I created an instructional handout and will place the file for this handout on the"Club Info" page. It is named "weebly instructional handout". You will need to print your own copy and bring it to the meeting. (I highly suggest you do this. It has screen prints and will give you somewhere to put your notes) I will not be bringing copies for everyone. If you have a laptop or tablet feel free to bring it to the meeting and go through the set up. If you want access to the site to blog or manage a portfolio page please use the "Contact Info" page to send me a message. I need to know what you want access to: blog and portfolio, blog only,or portfolio only. If you really aren't interested in logging into the site but still would like a portfolio page let me know. I am willing to set it up and post 6 to 8 photos for you. Pat Everyone: I forgot to mention: Please include the Model's name on each of your CD's or DVD's. The little boy was Aiden, the young girl is Jenna. Emily had the long dark curly hair. And the girl with black hair in an upsweep is Kaiya. Thanks!
Well yesterday went really well! Our models were beautiful (and cute) and the Victorian costuming was awesome! We had a good turnout, but not too crowded. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I spoke to 3 of the models and they had a blast. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of the pictures in our competitions. Remember everyone, please make a CD or DVD of each model separately so I can give it to them so they can make their prints. Also please include a copyright release so they don't have trouble getting anything printed. Please have your CD's or DVD's to me by the first meeting in June which is June 4th. I don't think we should make the models wait too long for their pictures. They are excited. A big thanks to everyone who helped organize and run this event. It takes a lot of thought and work to put shoots like this together. I hope everyone enjoyed it. Claudia
For those of you that are not familiar with Wyandotte here is the address to the Ford MacNichol Home:
2610 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte MI Remember: You can arrive at 11:00 am but can only shoot the outside of the home until 11:30 am. We ask that don't enter the house until 11:30. We need time to get the sets done and place the models and get organized. We will need to start breaking down the sets at 1:30. Not all of the rooms will have models or lights for the entire session so you can shoot those rooms until 2:00pm. Of course we want to remember to bring our patience and manners. In order for everyone to get that "perfect shot" we need to form lines at the room you want to shoot and when you reach the front you will only have 2 to 3 minutes. If you feel you need more time then get back in line again. After the shoot some of us will be going out to eat and anyone is welcome to join in. Pat The results of the International Competition between the Southgate Photographic Society of London, England, and the Creative Camera Club will be presented during the meeting Tuesday The comments made by the judges will be included in the presentation.
Our close friend and former Creative Camera Club member, Ted Williams, passed away last Thursday at the age of 75. Ted was very active in the early days of the Club in Woodhaven. Visitation will be at the: Molnar Funeral Home, Southgate Chapel, 14032 Northline Road, Southgate, MI on Tuesday 4/16/13 from 1 to 7 PM. The service will follow at 7 PM. His wife Dawn and his family will be remembered in our thoughts.
Hello Everyone: Below is an email that Bob sent me . Since he doesn't have access to the blog yet to post, he asked if i would put it out here for everyone's discussion and comments. Bob also would like to see the meetings moved to Mondays and would like some discussion on that also. One thing, though...We have the room booked for Tuesdays for the rest of the year and if we wanted to switch it to Mondays we would have to see if the room is available. So not sure it is feasible. Thanks! ---Claudia
Bob's Idea: I was thinking how a bunch of us are going to be getting together for the photo shoot at the Ford MacNichols home. It suddenly occurred to me that things like that would be a really great way for a bunch of us to try some new piece of gear. Lighting, maybe a micro 4/3 camera system, tripods or who knows what else. I see two ways to accomplish that, first maybe we can get adopted by Pro Cam or another camera shop that would like to have us try out some of their gear. Second, renting for the weekend can often be pretty cheap, particularly if it isn’t something really expensive. If we do rent, then maybe everyone who’s interested could chip in $5 or $10, or the club can fund it. Just a thought. Hello everyone: Just a reminder about our upcoming shoots and workshops! We have our Victorian Shoot at the Ford MacNichols home on April 20 from 11-2. We are probably going to have you shoot the outside of the home first at 11:00 while we are setting up the lights and getting the models ready. We will be bringing chairs and props for the models to sit on and use during our shoot since we will not be allowed to sit on the furniture or touch the items on the tables. Please everyone, lets be respectful of this, since it is a museum. They will have curators watching us and they will be happy to move something out of our way it need be. We are not allowed to move any of the furniture ourselves. We will go over all this at our next meeting. Also, let's be mindful of our photographers' ettiquette and allow everyone a chance to shoot with the lights. Please take 3 or 4 shots and pass on the pocket wizard or cord to the next person. We should all have plenty of time to shoot with the lights. In the rooms without lights there should be enough natural light from the windows. We have 5 models, 3 adult women, one 11 yr. old girl and a 4 yr. old boy. We have located period clothing for all of them including dresses, hats, shawls, etc. It should be a really fun shoot! You may also shoot just the home itself and the artifacts if you choose. The Ford MacNichols home organizer has requested that we let them know how many photographers will be in attendance so they can staff the home accordingly. Please let me know if you are planning on attending via email or you can sign up at the next meeting. Our meeting will be Tues and the shoot is that Saturday.
Our April workshop will be exciting. It is the International Competition with London, England. We have patiently been waiting for the final results since last fall. Dave has put all the photos from our club and the London club on a DVD and has created a presentation of all the pictures, comments, scores, etc. This will be a very enjoyable evening and i hope we have a great turnout. It will be really interesting to see their pictures compared to ours and hear the comments about both. |
