Hello everyone: Jan brought up the subject to me after last night's meeting of maybe having a Christmas Social at the Grind for our next workshop night. I brought it up to the members at the restaurant afterwards and everyone seemed to think that was a great idea. So I called Rose at the Grind and she is happy to do it for us for the same price as our previous social. We again will have coffee and desserts for our club on December 17 at 7:00 to celebrate the holiday and visit and socialize. Again, the club will pick up the bill. I hope everyone can make it! Our December Assigned Subject is Bokeh lighting. You may not be familiar with Bokeh so I have put a link below to a presentation by Kevin Ames that shows how to obtain Bokeh lighting in a studio setting. You might not be shooting in a studio, but the concepts still apply.

For the life of me I can't remember his name but he is a bird photographer. Since many of us love to photograph birds this should be a great evening. Don't miss it.
At the last meeting we talked about doing the international competition again with the Southgate Photographic Society of London, England. I contacted their president and they are excited about doing it again. We are still working out the details, but I wanted to let you all know that we will be doing it. Please start gathering your best photos for submission for this competition. We will form a committee of members to go over all the photos like we did last year. Last year we had 110 submissions and we can only submit 30. It's awesome that so many people participated and it was really hard to narrow it down to just 30. This year there won't be such a long time span between their judge and ours. We will do it around the same time. More details later....Claudia
Hello everyone: Just a reminder that beginning with February 2014, our competitions will begin at 6:45. This is to allow us plenty of time to finish and give us time to socialize at the end of the meeting and talk to newcomers and new members. We will talk about it at the the meetings but I just wanted to add it to the website for those that cannot make the meeting. Thanks. Claudia
