Time is running out to send entries for the International Competition with London. Due date is April 15. So far I have entries from: Bob Panick, Dan Holowicki, Mike Coleman, Mike Sporka and my own. We do not have near enough photos to enter this competition with London, so I urge all of you to send me your best pics. Email them to me at: [email protected]. Please make sure you size them the same way we do for monthly competitions with the exception of the resolution. Instead of 100 please make them 300. I would like to choose the judging committee next meeting. We have quite a few excellent photographers with superb judging skills and experience in our group and I am sure we will come up with a good committee. After the final pics are chosen for the competition, Dave will get a judge to do the scoring and critiquing of our pictures and those of the London club so see which club wins the competition. It was close last year, but we lost I think by a point or two. Lets show them this year that WE are the better photographers by kicking their butts!! Send me your greatest!

Claudia, I echo your sentiments and sense of urgency in this matter. Our club is fortunate to have many outstanding photographers. Often their work is displayed in venues other than club competition.....We indeed have the capability of obtaining ample competitive images. I would like to put a shout out to fellow ccc members to select 5 of your best images (half the fun is being your own judge), refine them as needed and submit to Claudia.

Claudia, As far as the judging is concerned try to keep the committee to a reasonable size. At the risk of seeming self serving, select judges who have volunteered their services in judging, commentary, and/or data collecting over the past year. The club has always promoted a sense of inclusion without division of talent or experience; however, in my opinion, the International competition should include those with active judging experience. 3/24/2014 03:10:04 am
Mike Sporka: Thanks for your help in urging our members to submit their photos for this competition. Also I do appreciate your sentiments on the judging process. I do agree with you that the members of the committee should consist of photographers with judging experience who have served at our monthly competitions. This is a special and important competition since it is international and it should be treated as such and juried by our most experienced. Leave a Reply. |
