October Club Trip

The trip is a weekend trip, up the west side of the state and then back. I have some more research to do on setting this up. I'll post more information when I get it.

For those of you who may be interested. I have a question, prices for hotels are running about $150 for what I consider a pretty good hotel (Courtyard or Hilton Gardens) to $70-80 for a mediocre hotel (Days Inn, Red Roof). Any preferences?

Peak for the Traverse City area should be about October 17th. Which works out because the Kelby Photo walk is Oct 11th. Here’s what I came up with, I’d like some feedback.
1. Leave Friday (10/17) and head out I-96 to Grand Haven.
2. Follow the lighthouses up the coast. Ending up at Point Betsie for sunset pictures.
3. Spend the night at Best Western in Beulah ($84/night). There are other places, but I don’t know how much people are willing to spend. Thought was to use this as the base for operations. Alternates are in Traverse City or B&B’s both of which could be double the rate.
4. Sunrise shooting in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area.
5. Follow the road up to the tip of the peninsula and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse.
6. Return back to Sleeping Bear for sunset shots.
7. Sunrise/morning shots in the area, grab lunch in Traverse City then head home.

This trip has been cancelled due to lack of interest.
